Yesterday a press release landed in my inbox that gave me a shock before even listening to the content, as I thought there were pieces of Italian 80s Sci-Fi and Poliziotteschi that had passed me by, until I realised it was a pastiche in the vein of Garth Merenghi, building on the mythology that surrounds artists such as Bernard Fevre.
This beautifully crafted piece talked of obscure remake Battlestar Transreplica that starred Ania Pieroni (who starred in Inferno, Tenebrae and The House by the Cemetery her image has recently appeared as the logo and on artwork for Mater Suspiria Vision) heading up a group of Nexus 6 style clones - your basic pleasure models - who hunt humans and host the Space Olympics.
While the second TV show the conceived spin off to the 'Shadow of the Bloodstained Kiss' film, Trial by Bullet starred Poliziotteschi legend Maurizio Merli as a galactic police detective in the not too distant future, the footage was deemed so controversial it was pulled after 10 minutes, and Pope John Paul II demanded the footage be destroyed, this sentiment was echoed by Italian PM Bettino Craxi.
What is real is the music, by Antoni Maiovvi - judging by the current mini mixes of the tracks the albums are going to be epic. One for fans of Zombie Zombie, Goblin and Gatekeeper. The album is currently available to pre-order from Seed. Hard physical copies are limited to 200, with the first 50 available with an African Apparel t-shirt.
